A leading manufacturing business are currently looking for a DevOps / Platform Engineer to join their growing team. They are looking for someone who is committed to the future of DevOps, CAAS technologies and is dedicated to supporting the future of the engineering community in a fast-paced development environment.
This is a hybrid position, with an estimated 1-2 days on-site every week, with the rest working from home. Overtime is frequently available.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Guide internal customers in the discovery and usage of Docker and Kubernetes, creating reusable containerized solutions.
- Manage and ensure the health, performance, and capacity planning of the Kubernetes environment.
- Collaborate with group IM functions and engineering teams to support containerized solutions for rapid application development and testing.
- Support wider automation activities to enhance IT services.
- Conduct workshops to educate colleagues on Kubernetes platforms and container creation.
- Define containerised architectures, deploy, debug, and optimize solutions across the organization.
- Automate deployment and configuration tasks using tools like Ansible.
- Ensure service continuity with monitoring and logging tools.
- Implement and maintain Kubernetes platform security best practices.
- Analyse complex problems and develop effective solutions.
- Support and maintain Linux OS with strong command line and scripting (bash, python) expertise.
The Successful candidate will have:
- Strong understanding of technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, Rancher, Harbor, Helm, Nexus, Artifactory, Python, GitLab, and Ansible.
- Proficient in Linux operating systems with strong skills in using command-line tools and scripting (bash, python) for automation tasks, particularly with RHEL.
- Strong understanding of automation tools like Ansible for deployment and configuration automation.
- Good understanding of monitoring and logging tools to ensure service continuity.
- Expertise in security best practices for configuring and maintaining Kubernetes platforms and running containers.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to address complex problems and devise effective solutions.
- Excellent customer service, teamwork, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to organize and conduct workshops to educate colleagues on Kubernetes platforms and container creation.
- Experience supporting colleagues to define containerized architectures, deploy, debug, and optimize them.
