Job Title: Systems Engineer

Salary: up to circa £55,000 depending on experience 

Location: Stevenage (we may be able to offer a relocation package for this role)

Dynamic (hybrid) working: typically, 4 days per week on-site, due to workload classification.

Security Clearance: British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship.

Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply. As a minimum and after offer stage, all successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS), which are managed by the MBDA Personnel Security Team.

The opportunity:

At MBDA, we have established a strong reputation for conducting extensive missile tests that go beyond traditional firing methods. Our Hardware-in-the-Loop (HWIL) team plays a crucial role in this innovative work.

As a HWIL Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for designing complex, real-time simulations that closely replicate the conditions of firing real missiles.

In this role, your main responsibility will be conducting experiments and analysing the performance of the missiles. You will collaborate closely with sub-system designers to identify areas for improvement and implement changes to enhance performance in various scenarios.

What we're looking for from you:

A broad engineering experience with deeper expertise in some (not necessarily all) of the following skill areas:

  • System performance analysis

  • Interface debugging and system integration

  • Familiarity with Linux operating systems

  • Testing of sensors or other sub-systems

  • Use of microcontrollers (e.g., Raspberry Pi)
