Tradewind is seeking an experienced English teacher to join an Alternative Provision School in St Albans. This is an excellent opportunity for a teacher who is passionate about supporting young learners with a range of behavioural issues and special educational needs, including Autism.

English Teacher - KS3 and 4 - St Albans, Hertfordshire

The school teaches English to Key Stage 4, although due to the amount of schooling many students have missed, few will learn beyond KS3. With 70 pupils between the ages of 11 and 16, this school uses a therapeutic approach to teaching, tailoring lessons and learning to the specific needs of the pupil rather than following a set curriculum.

Teachers at this school mainly come from mainstream backgrounds and are given the training and support to be successful in this setting. One thing they all have in common is a desire to support SEN learners and have a passion for seeing them achieve with the school's philosophy of "no barriers to learning" being truly supported by all.

The successful candidate for this role will:

  • Have QTS (desirable), although those with degrees and teaching experience will also be considered
  • Be experienced in teaching English to Key Stage 4 students
