Based just outside of Stevenage, Hertfordshire our award-winning client are looking for a Senior Tax Assistant to join their growing team on a permanent, hybrid-working basis after probation.

This job would suit someone with experience of working in a target driven environment dealing with corporation tax and VAT. They will be responsible for providing seamless support to both the finance team and the wider business, ensuring company tax and obligations are honoured in an accurate and timely manner.

The successful individual will be ATT, ACA/ACCA or CTA qualified or similar, with experience of using finance management systems. They must possess a logical and analytical approach, with excellent attention to detail and an advanced level of numeracy and IT skills, especially MS Excel. Strong organisational and time management capabilities are a must for this role.

Job responsibilities:

  • Draft and prepare quarterly tax calculations aligned with forecasts and budgets.
  • Conduct regular analyses of tax data to assess tax sensitivity.
  • Annually prepare IFRS101 and IFRS102 corporate tax disclosures.
  • Prepare Corporation Tax computations and returns for approximately 12 companies.
  • Provide assistance to the Group Tax Manager in managing the administrative aspects of the tax return compliance process.
  • Develop and maintain a strong understanding of VAT and property VAT regulations.
  • Build and sustain awareness of PAYE settlement agreements.
  • Acquire and maintain proficiency in using AlphaTax software.
  • Exhibit a broader understanding of tax-related commercial matters.
  • Collaborate and establish trusted relationships with the Finance Team and business entities.
  • Foster and maintain connections with external advisors and HMRC representatives
  • Pursue continuous self-development to stay updated on tax regulations and practices. Address challenges with effective problem-solving skills.
  • Perform ad hoc tax-related tasks as needed.
