We are looking for an enthusiastic Educational Support Assistant to join our team in Steyning. As an Educational Support Assistant, you will work closely with children who have a range of needs, including autism, ADHD, sensory processing challenges, and behavioral difficulties.

Key Responsibilities for an Educational Support Assistant:
  • As an Educational Support Assistant, you will provide tailored support to children who may display challenging behaviors, including physical outbursts, ensuring they feel safe and understood.
  • Assist children with physical and medical needs, including tube feeding, and maintain the utmost care and sensitivity in fulfilling this aspect of the Educational Support Assistant role.
  • Implement proactive strategies to manage and de-escalate challenging behaviors, ensuring a safe environment for all.
  • Help children develop social, emotional, and academic skills, working in line with their individualised education plans (IEPs).
  • Monitor and support the safety of children, particularly those with a tendency to run away. As an Educational Support Assistant, you play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of every student.
  • Collaborate closely with teachers, therapists, and other specialists to create an inclusive, supportive learning environment, demonstrating the essential role of an Educational Support Assistant.
Ideal Candidate for Educational Support Assistant:
  • Experience: Prior experience working with children who have special needs is essential, particularly those with autism, ADHD, or behavioral challenges.
  • Skills: Calm, patient, and adaptable, with strong communication and de-escalation skills.
  • Training: Knowledge of positive behavior management, safeguarding, or SEN support is advantageous.
