We are delighted to be retained by our key client HRN Tractors to recruit a Head of Fiance. This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and exp financial professional to join and contribute to the continued growth and success of a leading agriculture equipment dealership, with several depots across Scotland. The Head of Finance will oversee all financial activities and support the strategic objectives of the business.

HRN Tractors, a well-established name in the tractor sales and construction service industry, is excited to announce its search for a dynamic and forward-thinking Head of Finance to join their growing team.

Description

The successful candidate will likely have the following responsibilities:

Financial Leadership & Strategy:

  • Manage a team of five covering credit control, purchase ledger, finance administration and inventory management.
  • Provide strategic financial guidance to senior management and support key decision-making processes.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with the managing heads of individual depots to ensure effective financial service and support.
  • Manage company cash flow by reviewing and approving all supplier payment runs.

Financial Reporting & Analysis:

  • Prepare full monthly management accounts, including Profit and Loss, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow analysis, with commentary to provide clear insights into business performance.
  • Prepare and review monthly reconciliations and working papers to support the monthly management accounts. This includes typical balance sheet reconciliations, analysis of sales performance and analysis of gross margin performance.
  • Prepare monthly management packs for circulation amongst the senior management team. This includes depot specific analysis and wider company performance.
  • Prepare and submit monthly and quarterly VAT returns for the group.
  • Review and approve company payroll.
  • Support the budgeting and forecasting processes for all depots, ensuring financial targets are met and aligned with strategic objectives.
  • Provide regular financial updates to senior stakeholders, identifying key areas for improvement and cost-saving opportunities.

Governance & Compliance:

  • Oversee the preparation of year-end statutory accounts for the business and liaise with auditors and tax advisors as necessary, ensuring that information is accurate and submitted on time.
  • Ensure financial controls are robust and effective, and assist in the maintenance of an appropriate financial control environment across all depots.

Process Improvement & Support:

  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance financial reporting, decision-making, and operational efficiency.
  • Work closely with other depot heads to ensure financial systems and processes are aligned and fully integrated into the wider business operations.
  • Provide financial insight and recommendations to senior management and other stakeholders to drive better business outcomes.

Profile

The successful candidate will likely have the following profile:

  • CA / ACA / ACCA qualified (or equivalent) with experience in a financial leadership role. QBE could also be considered.
  • Experience in managing and motivating teams, including line management experience.
  • Strong understanding of financial management within a dealership or multi-site retail environment (desirable)
  • Proven experience in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and management accounting.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Experience in managing and improving financial controls and compliance processes.
  • Ability to work independently, managing multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in using financial software and MS Excel for reporting and analysis.
