Our client is a family-run business, proudly based in Stockport, Greater Manchester, since 1967. With over 50 years of experience in the joinery industry, they specialise in the manufacture, installation, and maintenance of bespoke performance doorsets. Although they operate nationwide, their primary focus remains in the northwest of the UK, where they have spent decades cultivating long-term, trusted partnerships with their clients.

On their behalf, we are looking for an experienced and professional Financial Controller to join the Finance Team, to help drive their growing empire.

What You’ll be Doing:

  • Managing accounting operations (including processing and/or overseeing billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger reconciliation, applications for work, bank reconciliation and counsel, cost accounting, inventory accounting and revenue recognition).
  • Coordinating and directing the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts, reporting any variances.
  • Preparing and publishing timely monthly financial statements.
  • Creating monthly and annual reports to identify results, trends and financial forecasts.
  • Ensuring that all financial transactions are properly recorded, filed and reported.
  • Ensuring all reporting is compliant with statutory law and financial regulations.
  • Documenting business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls, streamlining and improving accounting systems and operations.
  • Overseeing the management of cash flow and debt/debt collection.
  • Supervising and managing a small financial team.
  • Liaising with other senior members on key areas such as costing, application cut off.
  • Contributing to company financial strategy and decision-making processes.
  • Presenting reports to senior executives, stakeholders and board members.

Additional business administration may include:

  • Asset register/management.
  • Insurances.
  • Fuel cards.
  • Finance agreements.
  • FSC Management (collating data for timber managed in a sustainable way).
  • Carbon efficiency (collating data).

You Will Ideally Have/Be:

  • Qualified in ACCA/CIMA. Part qualified is desirable.
  • Relevant experience in a similar role.
  • Strong character and good communicator.
  • Able to hit the ground running.
  • Able to stand your ground and challenge where appropriate.
  • Sees things through to completion and takes accountability for your own work.
  • Management experience.
  • Uses initiative and is proactive.
  • Exceptional numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
  • A strong business acumen, along with the ability to influence at all levels.
  • A team player.
