Exciting Opportunity: Design Manager at a Leading Construction Company in Stockport

Work Style: Onsite in Stockport
Salary: £55,000 - £70,000 DOE + Training and Benefits!

Are you an experienced Design Manager with a passion for leading creative teams and delivering exceptional design solutions? My client is looking for a talented Design Manager to oversee their Design Team, ensuring high standards of project delivery, customer satisfaction, and safety.

If you have strong leadership skills and a background in managing live design projects, this is the role for you!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead & Manage: Guide, coach, and motivate the design team to maximize efficiency and quality across projects.
  • Team Collaboration: Chair monthly design team meetings, fostering teamwork and open communication.
  • Structural Testing & Calculations: Manage structural testing and calculations to ensure design integrity.
  • Design Process Management: Oversee the creation of live detailed drawings from initial approval through to construction and as-built documentation.
  • Project Review: Review all new projects after handover to ensure any information errors are corrected before design begins.
  • Design Standards Compliance: Maintain and enforce adherence to the Designs Standards Manual.
  • Proven Process: Ensure the Proven Process is followed meticulously
  • Design Reviews: Lead design reviews to ensure high-quality outputs and continuous improvement.
  • Tailored Support: Provide individual guidance to each designer based on their skills and personality.
  • New Dies Design: Design new dies as required for specific project needs.

Key Requirements:

  • Proven experience in design management, leading teams, and overseeing multiple design projects.
  • Strong knowledge of design processes, structural testing, and calculations.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide team members.
  • Ability to maintain and enforce design standards and processes.
  • A detail-oriented mindset with a commitment to quality and safety.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

  • Programme Adherence: Meet project timelines (target vs actual).
  • Customer Satisfaction: Monitor and improve customer satisfaction (NPS specific to design).
  • Right First Time (RFT): Ensure designs are delivered correctly the first time, minimizing rework.
