Research and Development Chemist

Our client is a leader in the development of high-performance lubricants and greases. They are committed to innovation, quality, and sustainability, and are seeking a Research and Development Chemist to join their growing R&D team.

What you’ll do:

As a R&D Chemist, you’ll apply your chemistry expertise to develop, formulate, test and improve grease products.

You will be instrumental in researching novel raw materials, optimising formulations, and performing quality control tests to ensure high product performance.

Your work will include product benchmarking, testing competitor products, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to bring formulations from lab to production.

You will develop and optimise grease formulations, using your chemistry knowledge to innovate with raw materials and additives.

This will be in response to customer requests and market trends on a weekly basis you will:

  • Improve product performance via innovation with novel raw materials and additives to improve products
  • Make them more cost effective
  • Make their manufacture more straightforward
  • Ensure compliance with chemical policies.
  • Physical, chemical and tribological testing understanding and ideally experience. Conduct comprehensive QC tests and evaluate raw materials, ensuring product quality and compliance with specifications.

The company is an ISO 9001 environment operating under a Quality Management System (QMS). Benchmark competitor products and provide technical insights for continuous improvement. Support technical and customer inquiries, ensuring performance meets market demands.

Qualifications:

  • A degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering or closely related field to this.
  • Experience in a similar working environment, particularly in lubricant or grease formulation, is highly desirable but another area of formulation is absolutely of interest, please do detail this on your CV / application.
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in testing methods (e.g., penetration, dropping point, oxidation stability).
