Are you a highly skilled Highways Engineer with a passion for delivering top-tier design solutions? We're seeking an experienced professional to join our team in Stockport as aPrincipal Highways Engineer. This is a fantastic opportunity to take on a leading role in a dynamic environment where your expertise will make a real impact.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the preparation of feasibility studies, designs, scheme drawings, and calculations.
  • Create detailed contract documents and specifications.
  • Oversee project planning, management, and monitoring.
  • Act as the primary liaison with clients, contractors, and internal teams.
  • Ensure designs meet current standards, with a solid understanding of DMRB, LTN1/20, and other relevant design guidelines.
  • Utilize design software like Civils 3D and/or MX to deliver high-quality results.

Specific Objectives:

  • Deliver a consistently high-level technical design service.
  • Provide guidance, support, and training to other staff members.
  • Maintain effective communication and build strong relationships with clients.
  • Report directly to the Highways Director, ensuring alignment with project goals.
  • Collaborate with other discipline leaders to ensure smooth technical integration.
  • Manage financial and commercial aspects of projects effectively.

What We're Looking For:

  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in a highway design office.
  • Proven track record of working successfully with Local Authorities.
  • Self-motivated and enthusiastic, with the ability to operate independently.
  • A qualified (or nearing qualification) Chartered or Incorporated Engineer.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
