We now have an opportunity for a Building Surveyor (Disrepair) to join our brand-new Client Repairs Team, who will provide a specialist technical support service for Stockport Homes Group. The role primarily entails dealing with disrepair claims as well as project managing specialist works. You will be working on a whole range of property types, carrying out intrusive surveys and specialist testing to enable accurate diagnosis of building defects and failures.

We’re looking for a commercially minded and confident individual, with a proven track record of managing and defending disrepair cases within a social housing environment.

As a Building Surveyor (Disrepair), you will be responsible for:

  • Conducting in depth surveys utilising specialist equipment to assist in diagnosis of disrepair issues and any minor structural defects

  • Carrying out 'joint surveys’; with other expert witnesses to agree required remedial works (for Scott Schedules) and estimate value of works required.

  • Project managing remedial works including site visits and audit inspections to ensure that specifications and quality standards are complied with.

  • Arranging, preparing and distributing relevant repair information to the legal team on request and attending court in the capacity of expert witness.

  • Obtaining accurate and detailed information about necessary repairs/improvements to properties, and undertake a range of surveys, including Stock Condition, Energy Efficiency, HHSRS, Legionella and Asbestos

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • A Recognised building qualification (HNC or equivalent minimum)

  • Experience working in a social housing environment, dealing with contracts and contract management

  • Experience and knowledge of Disrepair protocol and resolving claims

  • An understanding of and experience of the application of the HHSRS legislation

  • A working knowledge of Housing legislation and in particular Section 11 of the Landlord and Tenant Act 1985

  • Knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements, Health and Safety, CDM, Asbestos at Work, Party Wall Act etc

  • Experience using IT applications and Microsoft software such as: Excel, Word and Outlook
