Are you an SEMH Teaching Assistant with experience of supporting children with emotional or behavioural needs?

Do you have a natural ability to motivate & build relationships with young people from vulnerable backgrounds?

I am currently recruiting for a Secondary SEMH Teaching Assistant for a secondary SEMH school in the Stockport area that caters for young people aged 11-16 with Social, Emotional or Mental Health needs (SEMH).

The role is offered on a full time & long term temporary basis paying up to £100 per day and could become a permanent appointment for the right candidate.

The Role

Monday to Friday 8.45am to 4:20pm

SEMH Teaching Assistants will support the class teacher in the delivery of lessons by preventing or de-escalating challenging behaviours, engaging, motivating & maintaining focus of pupils while also assisting with input to learning.

Lots of empathy, patience and determination to persevere through challenges in order to help young people make progress.

Promote safety, inclusion and a positive learning environment at all times.

  • Have an enhanced DBS certificate (or be happy to apply for a new one)
  • Overseas Police Clearances (if applicable).
  • Min. of 2 professional references.
  • Provide a CV with a full history.
  • Have the legal right to work in the UK.
  • Some experience supporting children with challenging behaviours.
