I am currently recruiting for a Secondary SEMH Teaching Assistant at a secondary alternative education provision in the Stockport area that caters for young people aged 11-16 with Social, Emotional or Mental Health needs (SEMH).

The Role

  • Monday to Friday 8.30am to 4:00pm
  • Excellent pay, up to£100 per day and could become a permanent appointment for the right candidate.
  • SEMH Teaching Assistants will support the class teacher in the delivery of lessons in the mornings by preventing or de-escalating challenging behaviours, engaging, motivating & maintaining focus of pupils while also assisting with input to learning. In the afternoon the students go off site for vocational activities, mostly Sports so people with a sporting or other vocational background would be really beneficial.
  • Lots of empathy, patience and determination to persevere through challenges in order to help young people make progress.
  • Promote safety, inclusion and a positive learning environment at all times.
