Tradewind Recruitment is seeking a dedicated and experienced SEND Teaching Assistant / LSA to join a vibrant secondary school in Stockport. This role is an excellent opportunity for professionals with a background in education who are passionate about supporting students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). Only applicants with prior experience in schools and education settings will be considered for this position.

The Role:

As an SEND TA you will play a crucial role in supporting students with varying SEND needs, both inside and outside the classroom. You will work closely with teachers, SEND coordinators, and pastoral staff to ensure that each student receives the tailored support they need to thrive in their educational journey.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide one-to-one and group support to students with SEND, adapting learning materials and approaches to meet their individual needs
  • Assist in developing and implementing personalised support plans in consultation with the SENDCo and classroom teachers
  • Monitor student progress, behaviour, and engagement, providing feedback to teachers and parents where necessary
  • Help create a safe, inclusive, and encouraging learning environment that fosters independence and educational growth
  • Actively engage in supporting students' social and emotional needs, promoting a positive school experience
  • Assist in preparing and organising resources, and supporting teachers with classroom management, as required
Essential Requirements:
  • Previous experience in an educational setting, specifically within a school environment
  • Proven ability to work effectively with children with SEND, preferably in a secondary school
  • Strong understanding of SEND practices, as well as knowledge of safeguarding and child protection policies
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a proactive and adaptable approach
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, maintaining a professional and supportive attitude
  • Relevant qualifications in education or SEND support are advantageous but not essential
