Electrical Design Engineer
Orion is working with an industry-leading automation company looking for a talented and enthusiastic Electrical Design Engineer to join a growing team. You will be part of a team of skilled engineers providing solutions for many manufacturing industries. The company designs, manufactures, and installs a wide range of complex automated systems using the very latest robotics, servo, PLC, and vision systems combined with innovative design to deliver the full product life cycle.
Your role as the Electrical Design Engineer
As an electrical design engineer, you will be working alongside mechanical design and controls engineers to design bespoke automation machinery. You will be utilising your skills and experience to create required technical documentation including functional design specifications, bill of materials, and electrical drawings.
Responsibilities as the Electrical Design Engineer
- Produce accurate bills of materials, suitable for component procurement, spare parts lists, and installation records.
- Produce customer sign-off and technical documentation such as functional design specifications and system manuals.
- Produce accurate, functional, and cost-effective electrical system designs using EPLAN software.
- Produce accurate 2D layout drawings for electrical panel build and system IO layout to convey appropriate installation information.
Required skills for the Electrical Design Engineer
- Extensive experience with electrical design software.
- Extensive experience with hand calculations for drive systems, electrical loadings and current ratings, etc.
- Experience with robotics and automation.
- A relevant degree or HND/HNC.
