Chroma Recruitment is thrilled to be working with a leading engineering firm in the food technology sector, seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer. This is a high-impact role for a skilled engineer with an eye for technical solutions, regulatory expertise, and the ability to lead in electrical schematic design.

Position Overview


As a Senior Electrical Design Engineer, you will play a crucial role in creating, updating, and maintaining electrical schematics for advanced machinery. Youll ensure compliance with global regulations, source components for custom projects, and optimize machinery designs to align with client needs. Reporting to the Head of Engineering, this position offers the opportunity to work both independently and within a team.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design & Compliance: Develop electrical schematics and ensure compliance with international standards, including CE marking, Low Voltage, and EMC directives.
  • Panel Layouts & Components: Model panel layouts, source essential components, and perform wiring and protection sizing.
  • Documentation & Testing: Create detailed supporting documentation and establish testing procedures for compliance and safety verification.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with departments such as sales, purchasing, and engineering to align project requirements and ensure cost efficiency.

Requirements

  • Educational Background: HND or degree in Electrical Engineering, with relevant industry experience.
  • Technical Expertise: Proficient in Electrical CAD software (EPLAN ideal), familiarity with PLCs; knowledge of Mitsubishi controls is a bonus.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Experience with CE marking, UL/CSA standards, IET 18th Edition, and Functional Safety (ISO EN 13849-1).
  • Industry Knowledge: Familiar with best practices in industrial wiring, cable sizing, and overcurrent device selection.
