If so, this could be the perfect role for you in Stockport!As a Customs Specialist, you'll be at the forefront of the company's import and export operations, ensuring smooth and efficient customs clearance. You'll handle requests from companies, shippers, and consignees, and submit documentation to secure approvals for importing and exporting cargo. Your role will involve:

  • Preparation and presentation of Import/Export Customs Documentation
  • Utilising internal and external systems
  • Completion and distribution of all relevant documentation
  • Resolving customer queries/issues via email and systems
  • Managing tasks and prioritising incoming entry requests and communications
  • Highlighting and escalating issues to management and working within defined SLAs
  • Liaising with freight companies to obtain quotes and make bookings
  • Tracking consignments to ensure service levels are maintained
  • Handling cross-trade - Import & Export via Land, Air & Sea
  • Accurately preparing additional documentation required by external bodies (e.g., Customs, Chamber of Commerce)
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and requirements for Import & Export
  • Checking and signing off import/export invoices
  • Working to planned schedules and adapting to urgent changes
  • Building strong relationships with current and new freight providers

To be considered for this role, you will need:

  • Minimum of 4 years of previous import & export experience
  • Ideally, you will have experience in the import & export of hazardous and non-hazardous liquids industry. Full training will be provided.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • Ideally, you will be qualified to IATA for issuing & signing DG notes, but this is not essential
  • Willingness to complete Level 8 Safety Training for the business' Known Consignor certificate if not already qualified
  • Willingness to undergo CRB check
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office Products (Excel, Word, Windows, PowerPoint, Outlook)
