Fabricator/Fitter Vacancy


The Role: This role involves working as a Fabricator Fitter in a cutting-edge facility, manufacturing equipment for the defence sector under a long-term MOD contract. Responsibilities include using jigs and fixtures to produce components in line with engineering drawings and work instructions.


Key duties:

  • Following Health and Safety policies, identifying hazards, and maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Tack welding with MIG/MAG processes on armour plates.
  • Reporting equipment faults and unusual occurrences.
  • Ensuring all fabricated components meet specifications through visual and non-destructive inspections.
  • Using hand tools and measurement instruments as required.
  • Regularly completing European welder qualification tests.
  • Accurately logging work hours in the SAP MRP system.


Candidate Requirements:

  • A recognised apprenticeship in welding or a relevant field, along with an NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent).
  • Welding qualifications to ISO 9606 (parts 1 and/or 2) are essential; ISO 14732 is advantageous.
  • Prior experience in practical welding and fitting in a heavy manufacturing environment is required.
