Hygiene Action Operative

Job Overview:

VTA Recruitment are seeking a dedicated Environmental Hygiene Operative to join our client's team in the Stockport area. The role involves cleaning, clearance, and maintenance duties across various sites, often working with Social Services, SHG, Age Concern, and other local authorities. This is a hands-on role requiring a proactive approach to maintaining clean and safe environments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Premises Clearance:Clear vacant or occupied properties of furniture, personal belongings, and hoarded items.
• Deep Cleaning:Clean premises, including those with bodily fluids, working in challenging conditions as required.
• Sharps and Needle Removal:Safely remove needles and sharps from various locations, including homes, drains, and open spaces.
• Graffiti and Poster Removal:Remove graffiti and fly posters using hazardous chemicals.
• Minor Repairs:Conduct minor repairs and painting of buildings as needed.
• Environmental Improvement:Clear fly-tipping, manage vegetation, and perform land clearances using manual or mechanical methods.
• Industrial Cleaning:Perform deep cleaning of public spaces and equipment such as bins, war memorials, and canopies.
• Pest Control Assistance:Assist with pigeon proofing, balcony cleaning, and attend pigeon culls when needed.
• Furniture Removal:Assist with furniture removal within Council buildings and support the Estates department.
• Sewer and Drain Clearance:Undertake sewer baiting and drain clearance tasks.
• Driving Duties:Operate a transit van and tipper vehicle, manage maintenance schedules, and handle trailers and jet washing equipment.
• Documentation:Complete job sheets, take before and after photos, and manage communication via mobile devices.
• Team Support:Assist in training and development of new team members.

Requirements:

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Experience in cleaning, maintenance, or environmental hygiene is preferred.
• Comfortable working in challenging conditions, including heights, confined spaces, and dealing with hazardous materials.
• Full, clean driving license with experience driving vans and towing trailers.
