This well respected SEMH setting is based in Stockport is looking to recruit Teacher on a full-time basis to cover across the curriculum. This specialist setting caters for secondary aged learners with SEMH & Complex Needs; most students are on the autism spectrum with speech, language and communication needs. Strong Senior Leaders have created a calm, structured learning environment where their students thrive. Small specialist classes are well staffed and resourced throughout the setting. There is an expectation that the ideal SEMH Teacher covers a variety of subjects - although this would be catered to strengths of the cover teacher.

As a General Cover Teacher in a SEMH School you'll be expected to:

  • Teach subjects across the secondary curriculum;
  • Organise the classroom and learning resources to create a positive teaching environment.
  • Have a strong understanding of SEMH and Complex Needs
  • Plan, prepare and teach lessons that cater for all student ability ranges.
  • Motivate pupils with enthusiastic, imaginative presentation.
  • Maintain discipline.
  • Meet requirements for the assessment and recording of pupil's development.
  • Coordinate activities and resources within a specific area of the curriculum, supporting colleagues in the delivery of this specialist area.
  • Stay up to date with changes and developments in the structure of the curriculum.
  • Liaise with colleagues and working flexibly, particularly within smaller schools.

To apply the candidate must have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Experience teaching secondary aged student
  • Able to provide Referees.
  • An up-to-date DBS Check (or be willing to obtain one)
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
