Eventus Recruitment Cheshire are seeking an experienced Paraplanning Manager to join a very successful Financial Planning business based in Stockport, Greater Manchester. Role responsibilities:

The role is to support the Paraplanning team in providing, implementing and reviewing strategies and advice to private and corporate clients. This will include monitoring workload, providing support to team members on their strengths and weaknesses and improving the various paraplanning processes and templates. There will be additional responsibilities to provide updates into the board of directors and operations team, and to work closely with other heads of departments to improve communication and working practices across the business. In this Paraplanning job, you day-to-day duties will also include:

  • Supporting Paraplanners in preparing accurate financial plans and suitability reports.
  • Supporting the Paraplanners in research and analysis to meet client needs and objectives.
  • Have a full understanding of Holistic Financial planning and be comfortable querying Financial Planners and Paraplanners.
  • To provide support, where needed, to the Operations and Compliance committees.
  • Developing and maintaining internal relationships with various areas of the business to meet agreed targets.
  • Continuous professional development to meet regulatory requirements and personal development needs.
  • Managing team workflow and delivery against set standards.
  • Ensuring that any business conducted is done in a responsible and compliant manner, meeting all legislative requirements, both internally and externally.
  • To provide technical guidance to the Client Relationship Team (CRT), assisting with product specific, technical and compliance-based queries. Working with CRT and manager to ensure advice is implemented accurately and compliantly.
  • Improving research and suitability report processes and templates.
  • Continually update the Director of operations and the board on the team workload position, resource needs and improvements in design.

Person specification:

The incoming Paraplanning Manager will be able to demonstrate the following skills and attributes:

  • Excellent understanding of the financial planning process.
  • Have experience of dealing with all aspects of advice, such as Inheritance Tax Planning, Trusts, Bonds and higher risk investment such as EIS/VCT/BPR.
  • Good report writing skills.
  • Proficient IT skills. This should include knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Experience working in a Paraplanning role.
  • Ideally, experience in a management/supervision role.
  • Achieved professional qualifications to at least Level 4 (CII Diploma in Financial Planning).
  • Ideally Chartered with the CII or well on your way to achieving this.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Attention to quality, detail and accuracy and getting it right first time.
  • Skilled at understanding needs of team members, helping identify strengths and weaknesses and maximising their potential.
  • Be able to question colleagues comfortably when the information they have provided is not fully understood or the reasons for advice are unclear.
  • Ability to work within tight deadlines.
  • Flexible and able to deal with a multitude of tasks at once, able to prioritise when there are apparent conflicts of time or resource.
  • Client focused; friendly, helpful and considerate to all.
  • Show initiative, being able to motivate & manage oneself and to have a desire to improve and develop.
  • Enjoys working with other people and works well in a team environment
