Job Opportunity: Domestic Violence Team Leader
Location: Stockport Council Area
Hourly Rate: Up to 38 per hour (depending on experience)
Main Purpose of the Role
We are seeking a dedicated Social Worker to join our Domestic Abuse Team. The primary focus of this role is to provide expertise and support to children and families experiencing risks associated with domestic abuse. The successful candidate will collaborate with a multi-agency network, including children's social care, health, education, police, and community organisations, to promote safety and best practices.
Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver support and guidance to children, young people, and families facing domestic abuse, honor-based abuse, forced marriage, and FGM.
  • Conduct assessments, investigations, and risk evaluations, ensuring all actions align with statutory timeframes and good practice standards.
  • Contribute to daily duty support services, risk meetings, MARAC, and MAPPA forums.
  • Lead or co-lead assessments addressing complex domestic abuse issues and related cultural practices.
  • Drive the implementation of the Caring Dads program and disseminate learning outcomes.
  • Represent children's social care in professional forums, aiding risk assessment and safety planning.
  • Stay updated on national and local policies related to domestic abuse, ensuring the service aligns with best practices.
  • Foster multi-agency collaboration for effective interventions.


What We're Looking For

  • Recognised Social Work Qualification and Social Work England registration.
  • Strong understanding of domestic abuse impacts, safeguarding principles, and trauma-informed practice.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess and support complex family situations.
  • Experience working collaboratively with multi-agency teams.
  • A commitment to anti-oppressive, anti-racist practices and fostering inclusive environments.
  • Full driving license (reasonable accommodations provided for applicants with disabilities).
