My client are looking for an experienced and motivated Site Manager to oversee and manage multiple civil engineering sites within the Stockport area.
This role requires a skilled professional who can effectively coordinate projects, liaise with clients and subcontractors, and ensure works are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage 3 to 6 active sites of varying values.
- Coordinate with client representatives and subcontractors to ensure smooth project execution.
- Work with the Contract Manager, Business Manager, and commercial team to plan and program complex works, including forward planning for labour, plant, and materials.
- Organize and call off materials, equipment, and staffing to maintain project progress.
- Oversee daily site operations, including plant and equipment management.
- Prepare and implement Method Statements, Risk Assessments, and site-specific safety protocols.
- Maintain accurate site records, including labour, plant, materials, daily diaries, and photographic documentation.
- Ensure compliance with the company's Site Managers Manual and all relevant safety and quality standards.
- Conduct site inductions, maintain timekeeping, and manage personnel on-site.
- Represent the company professionally at all times.
- Operate the Permit to Dig system and report accidents or near misses to Head Office.
- Liaise with the public and local businesses as required.
- Support the QS and Contracts Manager with measurements, claims, and financial reporting.
Candidate Requirements:
Essential:
- Proven experience in a supervisory role within civil engineering.
- Strong people management and organizational skills.
- Full UK driving license.
- Highly motivated, with excellent communication skills and a team-oriented mindset.
- Relevant qualifications, such as CSCS, NRSWA, SMSTS, or equivalent.
- Experience in financial management of costs and maintaining accurate project records.
- Ability to work to tight deadlines with high attention to detail.
Desirable:
- Proficiency in MS Project, Word, and Excel.
- Experience with Local Authority highway projects.
- Confined Spaces qualification and IOSH certification.
- Experience managing several smaller sites concurrently.
- Some experience in quantity surveying.
