My client are looking for an experienced and motivated Site Manager to oversee and manage multiple civil engineering sites within the Stockport area.

This role requires a skilled professional who can effectively coordinate projects, liaise with clients and subcontractors, and ensure works are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage 3 to 6 active sites of varying values.
  • Coordinate with client representatives and subcontractors to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Work with the Contract Manager, Business Manager, and commercial team to plan and program complex works, including forward planning for labour, plant, and materials.
  • Organize and call off materials, equipment, and staffing to maintain project progress.
  • Oversee daily site operations, including plant and equipment management.
  • Prepare and implement Method Statements, Risk Assessments, and site-specific safety protocols.
  • Maintain accurate site records, including labour, plant, materials, daily diaries, and photographic documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with the company's Site Managers Manual and all relevant safety and quality standards.
  • Conduct site inductions, maintain timekeeping, and manage personnel on-site.
  • Represent the company professionally at all times.
  • Operate the Permit to Dig system and report accidents or near misses to Head Office.
  • Liaise with the public and local businesses as required.
  • Support the QS and Contracts Manager with measurements, claims, and financial reporting.

Candidate Requirements:

Essential:

  • Proven experience in a supervisory role within civil engineering.
  • Strong people management and organizational skills.
  • Full UK driving license.
  • Highly motivated, with excellent communication skills and a team-oriented mindset.
  • Relevant qualifications, such as CSCS, NRSWA, SMSTS, or equivalent.
  • Experience in financial management of costs and maintaining accurate project records.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines with high attention to detail.

Desirable:

  • Proficiency in MS Project, Word, and Excel.
  • Experience with Local Authority highway projects.
  • Confined Spaces qualification and IOSH certification.
  • Experience managing several smaller sites concurrently.
  • Some experience in quantity surveying.
