Role Profile

My client is an established engineering business in Stockport, looking to appoint a commercially astute Technical Support Engineer to join their Engineering Team.

The main purpose of this role is to provide technical advice to external customers, suppliers and internal teams across the business on all aspects related to product design, operation, maintenance and repair.

If you are a time served Mechanical Engineer with a background in Manufacturing and previous experience in a Design/ Drawing office, this could be the perfect career move for you!

Key responsibilities:

  • Assist with the design control process for engineered parts
  • Process engineering change requirements and modifications
  • Update engineering drawings and technical specifications when required
  • Respond to technical queries from suppliers, customers and internal colleagues across the business
  • Support the Quality team with any issues raised with supplier parts
  • Support Procurement in identifying appropriate spare parts required for servicing and repair
  • Assist the Sales and Commercial teams with technical data/information for customer tenders and quotations
  • Provide remote technical support to the Field Service Engineering team

Skills & Experience:

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Good mechanical engineering knowledge, preferably with experience of metallurgy, heavy mechanical equipment and associated engineering parts
  • Previous mechanical design experience, with at least basic knowledge of Autocad
  • Excellent communication skills to be able to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong problem solving / investigative skills
