Health and Safety Officer

Location: Manchester

Salary: 45,000 per annum

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain health and safety policies and procedures in compliance with UK legislation and industry standards.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments and audits to identify potential hazards and implement appropriate control measures.
  • Provide expert advice and support on health and safety matters to the construction teams and management.
  • Monitor and report on health and safety performance, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and company policies.
  • Deliver health and safety training and induction programs for new and existing staff.
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in health and safety legislation, making recommendations for improvements where necessary.
  • Collaborate with project managers to ensure health and safety considerations are integrated into project planning and execution.
  • Investigate incidents and accidents, producing detailed reports and recommendations to prevent recurrence.

Requirements:

  • Level 6 Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or NVQ Level 5 in Health & Safety Management.
  • Level 3 Certificate in Environmental Management.
  • Proven experience in health and safety management within the construction industry.
  • Excellent understanding of UK health and safety law and legislation, particularly in an engineering context.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage and influence at all levels.
  • Proficient in conducting risk assessments and safety audits.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and independently.
  • NEBOSH or equivalent qualification would be an advantage.
