Reed Further Education are recruiting British Sign Language communicators in Stockport.

Our clients are looking for multiple CSWs to work with students, aged 16-19 years old, with hearing impairment. The role will involve listening to the tutor and/or other students and interpreting back to the student the content of the lesson/conversation.

These roles are a fantastic opportunity to work with education, full or part time for the whole academic year.

The successful Communication Support Worker will have the following skills and qualifications:

  • Experience working with students/young adults in either a high school setting, college setting or support and care setting.
  • Experience using British Sign Language - in particular interpreting busy environments to individuals with hearing impairment
  • A good understanding and commitment to Safeguarding
  • British Sign Language from Level 3 minimum
  • A minimum of GCSE A-C/Level 2 in English and Maths.
  • An Enhanced DBS on the update service or the willingness to obtain one.
