Our client, a leading engineering service provider in the fast-growing utilities space, are looking for a Head of Compliance to join the team on a permanent basis.
As Head of Compliance you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing the compliance framework within the firm. This role involves ensuring that all business operations and procedures meet all regulatory and legal requirements and standards. The Head of Compliance will act as a key advisor to senior management, providing insights and guidance on risk management, ethical practices, and corporate governance
Role Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive compliance strategy aligned with the company's objectives and regulatory requirements.
- Lead the compliance function across all business units, ensuring consistent and effective compliance practices.
- Provide strategic advice and direction to the functional leads, executive team and Board on compliance matters.
- Design, implement, promote and maintain company-wide compliance policies and procedures.
- Ensure policies are up-to-date with current laws and regulations, including those related to anti-bribery, AML, competition law and financial regulations.Â
- Establish and oversee monitoring systems to ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies.
- Regularly report to the Board and senior management on compliance risks, issues, and corrective actions being taken.
- Lead internal audits and coordinate with external assurance providers as needed across all compliance areas of the business.
- Develop and deliver compliance training programs to employees at all levels.
- Promote a culture of ethical behavior and compliance throughout the organisation.
- Identify potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk; develop and implement corrective action plans.
- Work closely with the Risk Committee to integrate compliance risk assessments into broader risk management strategies.
Key Skills & Experience:
- Minimum of 5 -10 years of experience in a senior compliance role, preferably within the energy/utilities contracting or construction sectors.
- Proven track record of developing and leading compliance programs in complex, multi-jurisdictional environments.
- Deep knowledge of regulatory frameworks, including anti-bribery laws, and industry-specific regulations.
- Strong leadership and strategic thinking skills with the ability to influence and collaborate across all levels of the organisation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of articulating complex compliance issues to non-experts.
- High ethical standards and integrity with a commitment to promoting a compliance-oriented culture.
