Role Profile

My client is an established engineering business in Stockport, looking to appoint a dynamic, forward-thinking Supervisor to lead their in-house Machine Shop operation.

There is a real opportunity to develop, improve and grow the workshop area, therefore if you if you have a proven track record of leading change management programmes within similar production environments, then this could be the perfect role for you!

Key responsibilities:

  • Oversee all customer orders completed in the Machine Shop / Workshop
  • Provide day to day leadership for the team, from experienced staff to apprentices
  • Allocate tasks to the team and ensure jobs are delivered within the planned timeframe
  • Arrange maintenance of machinery and liaise with relevant contractors
  • Maintain appropriate inventory levels for spare parts, consumables and tooling
  • Identify and deliver continuous improvement initiatives to drive efficiencies within existing operation and suitably prepare the department for significant planned growth

Skills & Experience:

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Excellent leadership skills and a proven track record in a similar supervisory role
  • Previous experience successfully implementing and leading change
  • Proven track record working to and/or introducing KPIs and metrics
  • Good IT / analytical / reporting skills

Experience working in a machine shop / workshop or with engineered components and/or mechanical engineering background would be an advantage.
