Main Purpose of the Job:As a Family Support Worker you will be linked to a locality to assist with various tasks, including:

  • Direct work with children and families
  • Paperwork
  • Taking children and families to appointments
  • Supporting moves of placements
  • Being the second worker on visits
  • Taking notes

Responsibilities and Key Areas:

  1. Facilitating Letterbox Contact:
    • Manage letterbox agreements and exchanges.
    • Ensure exchanges meet standards and are secure.
    • Provide advice and support to participants.
  1. Family Support:
    • Deliver support packages to adoptive families.
    • Build relationships with adopted children.
    • Facilitate groups for adoptive families.
    • Support birth families with adoption-related needs.
    • Coordinate with other services and agencies.
  1. Meetings and Development:
    • Contribute to service development.
    • Participate in meetings, training, and regional events.
    • Maintain administrative and evaluation systems.
  1. General Duties:
    • Promote communication between agencies.
    • Attend supervision sessions and staff meetings.
    • Maintain records and produce reports.
    • Use anti-discriminatory practices.
    • Fulfill additional duties as needed.

Person Specification:Essential Criteria:

  • Experience of direct work with families.
  • NVQ level 3 or equivalent childcare qualification.
  • Essential car user role (alternative arrangements for disabled applicants).
  • Experience with children who have experienced trauma or neglect.
  • Confidence in working with children with challenging behaviours.
