Secondary School SEN Unit Manchester Stockport SK2 Prospero are looking for an enthusiastic and flexible Teaching Assistant to work in a specialist unit supporting students with additional learning needs and social, emotional and mental health issues. You need to hold experience of working with young people this post will focus on encouraging children to engage with the basics of the curriculum, and dealing with behavioural challenges. You will be able to demonstrate skills in relating to children who have barriers to learning, including additional learning needs. You will be able to communicate and deal with pupils in a calm but firm manner in small groups or on a one to one basis, both in school, ensuring that every student is making progress in line with their ability. You will ideally have a wealth of experience of working with pupils who can demonstrate challenging behaviours. The position is open to all experienced and those who have a strong background in mentoring children and young adults. Depending on performance, the school would look at either extending the contract or offering a permanent position.
