This is a well-established specialist school, catering to primary and secondary students aged between 7 and 16 with a range of additional needs, including learning difficulties, autism, and behavioural challenges. They received an Ofsted rating of 'GOOD' in 2022 and their mission is to provide a nurturing and supportive environment where every child can achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities of a Support Worker:
- Work closely on a 1:1 basis with a designated student, supporting them in both academic and personal development
- Assist the student with daily learning activities, adapting teaching strategies to meet their individual needs
- Help the student remain engaged and focused during lessons, offering encouragement and motivation
- Support the student in managing challenging behaviours through positive reinforcement and behaviour management techniques
- Facilitate the student's participation in social activities and foster positive peer relationships
- Collaborate with the class teacher, SENCO, and other professionals to ensure the student's Individual Education Plan (IEP) is implemented effectively
- Monitor and record the student's progress, providing feedback to teaching staff and parents/guardians
- Help the student develop independence and life skills

- Excellent communication skills, both with the student and the wider school community
- Ability to manage and de-escalate challenging behaviours
