We have a fantastic locum social work opportunity based within a Children's Locality Team in the Stockport area. The local authority work slightly different to other local authorities - they have a model of working with children and their families from the point of referral through to closure or permanence. Social Workers can focus on gaining the best possible outcomes with families by forming a long lasting and stable relationship with them.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with children and young people, families, carers and communities to help them make informed decisions, engender change enabling them to clarify and express their needs and contribute to service planning
  • Liaising with other professionals
  • Child protection care proceedings
  • Completing section 47s
  • Chairing Child protection meetings
  • Case conferences

To be considered for the Social Worker role:

  • 1+ years experience of working within a similar social work setting
  • Social Work England Registration
  • BSc Social Work or equivalent
  • Good knowledge of the issues and risks faced by children and know the procedures to manage these
  • Experience of managing a complex caseload
