Tradewind Recruitment are currently recruiting for an experienced Behaviour Specialist Teaching Assistant to join a secondary school in Stockport on an immediate basis. This is a full-time, long-term position, ideal for someone with experience working with students who have challenging behaviour and additional needs.

About the Role

As a Behaviour Specialist Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting students with challenging behaviour, ensuring they have the best possible chance of success both academically and socially. You will work closely with the classroom teacher to create a positive learning environment and use your knowledge and experience to manage behaviour effectively, implementing strategies that promote engagement and positive learning outcomes.

Your duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Supporting students in and out of the classroom to help them stay focused and engaged.
  • Assisting teachers with planning and delivering lessons that are tailored to the needs of students.
  • Supporting students with social, emotional, and behavioural difficulties, helping them develop coping strategies and manage their emotions.
  • Collaborating with the SEN department and other staff members to ensure that students receive the necessary interventions.
  • Monitoring and tracking student progress, providing feedback to teachers and other relevant staff members.
About You

To be considered for this role, you will ideally have:

  • Previous experience working with students with behavioural needs, preferably in a secondary school setting.
  • A sound understanding of the strategies required to support students with challenging behaviour.
  • Patience, empathy, and strong communication skills to effectively support and engage with students.
  • A proactive, resilient, and positive attitude towards behaviour management.
  • The ability to build rapport with students, teachers, and parents.
  • A relevant qualification in education, psychology, or a related field is advantageous but not essential.
