Job Description: SEN Teaching Assistant Job in Stockport

Overview:

Hays Education are seeking a dedicated and compassionate teaching assistant to join our provision team at an SEN school in Stockport, supporting pupils with Emotionally Based School Avoidance (ESBA), Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and Trauma. This role will require you to assist pupils with their Maths, English and Science work, alongside engaging pupils in offsite activities including outdoor education. This role is temporary but has the potential to be extended based on performance.Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored care and support for pupils with ESBA, ASC and Trauma
  • Foster a nurturing and inclusive learning environment
  • Demonstrate patience and understanding in challenging situations, managing behaviours such as aggression, withdrawal, or anxiety
  • Implement effective behaviour management strategies

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with pupils with SEN
  • Patience, empathy, and a passion for supporting pupils with SEN
  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
  • Strong understanding of de-escalation and calming techniques
  • Full UK Driving Licence and access to your own vehicle
  • Able to assist pupils in outdoor activities
