The role:

As a Lead Azure Engineer you will oversee the development and support of IT and digital solutions. This pivotal role involves leading technical projects, enhancing operational efficiency, and ensuring compliance with industry standards.

 You will collaborate closely with engineering teams, IT departments, and external partners to deliver cutting-edge solutions primarily using the Microsoft technology stack among other technologies.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Design, build, and configure Azure resources including virtual machines, Azure SQL databases, and storage areas.
  • Migrate on-premises applications and business processes to cloud solutions.
  • Support and upgrade legacy and business applications.
  • Lead the advancement of technologies within the business.
  • Optimise servers for performance and cost efficiency.
  • Manage budgets and present to key stakeholders.
  • Lead a diverse team including senior and junior staff members.
  • Develop and implement technology strategies for the business.
  • Manage and lead complex technical projects from conception to completion.
  • Design and present technical proposals and business solutions.
  • Support the professional development of team members through learning and development plans.
  • Employ agile methodologies in project management and software development.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Technical Lead or in a similar leadership role in IT.
  • Strong background in designing and implementing solutions using the Microsoft technology stack.
  • Experience with Azure cloud services including VMs, SQL databases, and storage solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead both small and large scale projects.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to think strategically.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing cross-functional teams.
  • Proficient in budget management and presenting to stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies and project management practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
