We are working in partnership with an SEMH Special School based in Stockton, who are looking to appoint an SEMH Teaching Assistant. This is a full-time vacancy, seeking an outstanding candidate to join the school on their journey of growth. The successful candidate can expect to work in a challenging but rewarding environment. The school leadership help and support all members of staff to help them achieve their full potential.

The job

  • To provide support and guidance to the pupil by removing barriers to learning.
  • To support and facilitate change and transition along the journey to excellence.
  • To be a consistent support to avoid any further disruption.
  • To be an active participant in supporting the timetable in all it's different context.
  • Complete assessments and records of students progress and achievement when needed.
  • Work 1.2.1 and group settings to support pupils with complex needs.
  • Able to engage students in their lessons and support with the work.
  • Experience of behaviours that challenge and good deesclation techniques.
  • A calm and resilient individual with experience of supporting students in KS3 and KS4

The successful candidate will

  • Hold a Teaching Assistant or equivalent qualification.
  • Have experience in an SEMH/SEND setting.
  • Hold relevant experience / qualifications suited to supporting learners with additional needs.
  • Have experience supporting learners with SEMH, behaviours that challenge & SEND needs.
  • Be resilient, dedicated and reliable.
  • Team teach training would be preferable.
