Senior Mechanical Engineer 

Jackson Hogg are delighted to be supporting an award-winning engineering consultancy in the appointment of a Mechanical Engineer - Senior Mechanical Engineer within their expanding mechanical engineering services team. This position is client-facing and will entail simultaneous management when leading multiple projects. You will work within the mechanical department, which specialises in carrying out fitness for service assessments of process plant, working closely with clients to improve their assets’ integrity. You will lead projects from initial client lead through to proposal generation, contract management and delivery of the technical assessment. The ideal candidate should have experience in pressure systems design, and/or asset integrity evaluations, and an understanding of deterioration modes including corrosion, creep and fatigue.  

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Capability and exposure to pipe stress analysis software packages such as Bentley, AutoPIPE or Caesar.  
  • and a working know knowledge of pressure vessel design and/or FFS codes such as PD5500, ASME VIII and API 579.
  • Knowledge and experience of working with the DBA methods giving in Pressure Vessel Design codes (e.g. ASME VIII and BS EN 13445)
  • A minimum of three years’ experience working in the Chemical, Petrochemical, Oil and Gas, or Energy sectors.
  • Working towards Chartered status with the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE).
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering (or appropriate discipline), with a minimum grade of a 2.1.
  • Working towards Chartered status with the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE).
  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple projects simultaneously, proving technical ability and commercial awareness.
  • An understanding of non-destructive testing (NDT) techniques.
  • Ability to build and maintain successful working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.

Desirable Skills/Experience

  • Experience of 3D modelling and producing 2D engineering drawings.
  • Familiarity with Design by Rule (DBR) calculation methods regarding process equipment design

The position can offer hybrid working and flexible working hours. You must be able to work in the UK without restriction.
