NES Fircroft are proud to be working alongside a major Chemical manufacturer in Middlesbrough, Teesside. We are looking for an Electrical Technician for maintenance work on their state of the art COMAH site in Billingham.

Mon-Fri type role, working 40hr weeks. Initial 3 months' work. PAYE rates - enquire for full details right from the first call! No travel paid so would suit local applications.

The position expedites I, C & E maintenance activities at the safely and efficiently to agreed work plans, safety management systems and best working practices in accordance with Health & Safety regulations and Business Objectives to ensure that the performance and availability of I, C & E systems meets the standards required to achieve safety, production and environmental targets.

Main tasks :

  • Expedite ICE activities, planned and reactive, at either site, as directed, to ensure facilities are maintained in compliance with company processes and EH&S, design and maintenance standards

  • Supervise & assist maintenance team members, support staff and contractors in day-to-day maintenance activities on site (including Haz Area inspection and testing, isolation of power sources, etc.)

  • Provide technical & troubleshooting support to company personnel in electrical matters, including breakdowns

  • Assist with the development, implementation & review of site-wide maintenance programmes & procedures

  • Maintain knowledge & competency in electrical Standards & best practice

  • Identify opportunities for improvement within the maintenance operation

  • Assist with planning and management of electrical elements of maintenance turnarounds

  • Assist with the control and coordination of spare parts and the optimisation of stock levels

  • Ensure appropriate maintenance records are kept up to date to facilitate data analysis for reliability improvements; CMMS, Hazardous Area Inspection, Fixed Wiring, earth continuity, etc. reports to be completed on a timely basis , data checked for accuracy and updated as appropriate.

  • Participate in improvement and review initiatives as required e.g. E&I Compliance Team, incident investigations & hazard reviews

  • Prepare technical reports as required

  • Comply with safe work systems and maintenance procedures

Required skills :

  • Ideal candidate would have 3+ years relevant experience in a maintenance role on a COMAH upper tier chemical manufacturing plant

  • As a minimum, the successful candidate should have a recognized apprenticeship or electrical qualification

  • CompEx training and qualification preferred

  • Extensive knowledge & understanding of electrical engineering principles and practices & working knowledge of I&C systems

  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings (e.g. loop diagrams & P&IDs)

  • Needs to be conversant with Health and Safety issues and Codes of Practice relevant to the industry including COSHH, LOLER, PUWER, DSEAR, CompEx, BS7671 & IEC61511

  • Experience in inspection and repair of rotating equipment

  • Must be eligible to work in the UK and have full UK driving license

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, self-motivated with a good team ethic
