Overview

  • Possessing a proactive attitude, you will work within the multi-skilled engineering team to support production with a range of activities.
  • An overview of the position would be to assist/lead with a range of activities daily ranging from process improvements, introduction of new parts or introduction of the welding cobot. The position can be slightly tailored dependant upon the experience and interest of potential candidates
  • Requirements:
  • Time served welder/fabricator
  • Experience in improvement exercises within a welding/fabricating environment
  • 3+ years in programming welding robots or in new part introduction
  • Responsibilities:
  • Working collaboratively with various departments across the group sites to ensure production targets, Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and quality standards are met to meet the requirements of the customer.
  • Development and improvement of existing and new fabrication processes and techniques, through the design and implementation of fixtures, jigs, and tooling.
  • Analysis of Fabrication processes to identify efficiency improvements, reduce waste and optimize labor, through the application of lean manufacturing principles and time and motion studies.
  • Provide technical support to production staff and line management. Troubleshoot fabrication issues and provide solutions. Develop and implement training for production staff on new processes, equipment and parts.
  • Manage the introduction of new parts into production through the development of resource plans, and collaboration with other departments to ensure process and quality standards are achieved and customer deadlines met.
  • Identify and procure necessary fabrication equipment and tools, maintain and calibrate existing fabrication equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Ensure all fabrication processes comply with industry standards and regulations, through the promotion of a positive culture of safety and the completion of regular safety audits.
  • Monitor and manage department costs in line with product cost targets, whilst also ensuring that annual budgets are achieved. Provide a monthly summary of department performance, and present to the wider management team.
  • Consistently promote high standards and full adherence to 5S (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain) practices at all times, promoting the standards and behaviours expected of each team member, through personal example.
  • Foster and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders through appropriate levels of communication.
  • Liaise and communicate with other departments and ensure an effective interface is maintained.
  • Identify opportunities for business improvements within the organisation and provide leadership and support on specific or general improvement projects.
  • Any ad-hoc duties as required from time to time by the Production & Quality Manager or other members of the management team.
