Claims Handler Middlesbrough – Office Based |Full time - Monday – Friday 09:00 to 5:30 pm | £26,000 Per Annum

Position Overview

We are now seeking a highly motivated individual to join our Claims team at our head office in Middlesbrough. The successful candidate will report to the Claims Manager and will be responsible for a varied caseload of claims involving our vast tank container and vehicle fleet. The position available is a busy, challenging role and requires a high level of commitment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing a large and varied caseload, from inception to conclusion, in compliance with the Company’s Claims Handling Procedure. 
  • Liaising with colleagues, customers, and suppliers to obtain all relevant documentation in support of claims within designated areas.
  • Reviewing information to make an informed decision on liability.
  • Debt recovery – both domestic and international.  Managing own caseload and liaising with third parties as required.

Core Skills/Attributes

  • Exceptional organisational skills and ability to prioritise multiple claims efficiently.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work with and support individuals within the Claims Department and correspond effectively with colleagues and third parties domestically and internationally.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks.
  • Good time management
  • Previous experience within a claims handling role or within the shipping/transportation or freight forwarding industry is advantageous but not essential.
