Smart Manufacturing Solutions are seeking a skilled and motivated Fabrication Engineer to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing and executing fabrication processes, from concept to production. This includes designing, planning, and managing the fabrication of parts, components, and assemblies, ensuring they meet the required specifications and quality standards.
Responsibilities:
- Working collaboratively with various departments across the group sites to ensure production targets, Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and quality standards are met to meet the requirements of the customer.
- Development and improvement of existing and new fabrication processes and techniques, through the design and implementation of fixtures, jigs, and tooling
- Analysis of Fabrication processes to identify efficiency improvements, reduce waste and optimize labor, through the application of lean manufacturing principles and time and motion studies
- Provide technical support to production staff and line management. Troubleshoot fabrication issues and provide solutions. Develop and implement training for production staff on new processes, equipment and parts
- Manage the introduction of new parts into production through the development of resource plans, and collaboration with other departments to ensure process and quality standards are achieved and customer deadlines met
- Identify and procure necessary fabrication equipment and tools, maintain and calibrate existing fabrication equipment to ensure optimal performance
- Ensure all fabrication processes comply with industry standards and regulations, through the promotion of a positive culture of safety and the completion of regular safety audits.
- Monitor and manage department costs in line with product cost targets, whilst also ensuring that annual budgets are achieved. Provide a monthly summary of department performance, and present to the wider management team
Requirements:
- Level 3 or above Qualification in Fabrication/Welding
- Competent at welding to ASME IX or ISO 9606 standard
- Understanding of CSWIP 3.1 (Weld inspection standard)
- Good understanding of CAD software
- Competent with reading engineering drawings to 3rd angle projection
- Confidence with the application of RCA methods / techniques
