Personal Tax Assistant required. My client is a well-known firm of chartered accountants and businesses, based in the Stoke area. Due to recent growth, they are seeking a Personal Tax Assistant to join their team and work across a varied portfolio of c400 personal tax clients, from sole traders, property investors, to simple directors of owner managed businesses.

Over time as you develop within the firm and role there will be increasing client contact / portfolio management responsibility and scope for involvement in delivering wider tax planning services.

Personal Tax Assistant Position Overview
  • Assist the Tax Team with the efficient running of the tax department focussing on personal tax compliance work
  • Prepare self-assessment and personal tax returns for sole traders, partnerships, landlords, director/shareholders, etc
  • Prepare and complete P11D forms
  • Deal with routine personal tax queries
  • Communicate with colleagues from other departments, clients, and HMRC by telephone, email, and in writing where required
  • Ad-hoc assistance with tax queries and projects

The ideal candidate will have previous experience working in an accountancy practice and be AAT qualified or nearly qualified.

  • AAT qualified or nearly qualified
  • Previous experience working in an accountancy practice
  • Experience with personal tax
  • Experience using software to complete self-assessment returns (essential)
  • Experience using IRIS personal tax and suite of software (preferred)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Personal Tax Assistant Position Remuneration
  • £25,000-£30,000 basic salary (depending on experience)
  • 21 days annual leave + 4 day Christmas shutdown + bank holidays
