Macildowie are actively seeking an Accounts Assistant to join an amazing business on an interim basis to support the finance function. The company is based in Stoke on Trent, ST1.

This is a full time role working 35 hours a week in the office (flexible start and finish times available).

Initially this role is for 3 months to support the Account Manager but there is potential this could be extended after the 3 month period.

Salary is between £14.00 - £17.00 depending on experience.

Ideally we are looking for someone who has strong experience as an all round accounts assistant working on both sides of the ledger (purchase and sales) and is confident working in a small finance team where everyone jumps in to get the job done. Must have very good attention to detail. If you have done AAT this is a benefit but not essential.

We are looking for someone who is available to start in February.

Key responsibilities and Duties include:

  • Invoicing: Prepare and issue accurate sales and purchase invoices in a timely manner.
  • VAT: Assist with VAT returns, ensuring compliance with HMRC regulations and accurate record-keeping.
  • Payment Runs: Process and manage payment runs, ensuring payments are made to suppliers and vendors within the agreed terms.
  • Cashier Work: Handle cashier duties, including banking, cash management, and ensuring proper recording of all cash transactions.
  • Supporting Current Accounts Manager: Provide assistance and support to the Current Accounts Manager with day-to-day accounting functions and any other ad-hoc tasks as required.
  • Accuracy: Maintain a high level of accuracy in all financial records and transactions to ensure compliance and minimize errors.
  • Ad-hoc Duties: Assist with other administrative and finance-related tasks as needed, given the small team environment.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate financial records and documentation to support internal audits and regulatory compliance.
  • Reconciliation: Assist with reconciliation of accounts, including bank and supplier statements.
  • Reports: Help in the preparation of financial reports, spreadsheets, and summaries for management review.
