Lab technician, based in Staffordshire Title: Lab TechnicianLocation: StaffordshireSalary: £33783 per annum (including shift allowance) + Overtime Pay (Saturday 1.5x pay, Sunday 2x pay)Employment Term: Initial temporary 3-month contract with the potential to go permanent SRG is working with a successful oil refinery company in Stoke-on-Trent who are looking for a Lab Technician to join initially on temporary a 3-month contract. You would be joining a fast-paced environment where your analytical skills and attention to detail will be crucial. The successful candidate will be joining a small laboratory team, supporting in the testing a range of samples including incoming material, finishes samples and taking part and running research and development (R&D) projects.Working Hours: Starting on day shifts, before moving on to a rotating shift pattern including 6am-2pm, 2pm-10pm and 10pm-6am.Role / Description

  • Sampling and testing of all incoming and outgoing materials
  • Day-to-day analysis of production samples
  • Analysis of waste oils using GC, FTIR, XRF, PMCC Flash point, Viscosity, Karl Fischer, colour index
  • Sampling and analysis of production samples
  • Routine and non-routine lab work and Quality Control (QC) testing
  • Keeping up to date data files - recording results and sharing findings
  • Project management and research and development on a number of projects

Requirements

  • Degree in Chemistry (or similar) or proven industrial experience in a similar laboratory environment
  • Recent experience using analytical techniques including GC, FTIR, XRF, Viscosity testing is desirable but not essential
  • Prior experiance in R&D or Oil and Gas is advantageous
  • Available with short or immediate notice is advantageous
  • Willing and able to work at height
