Senior Cloud Engineer

Senior Cloud Engineer responsibility for designing, deploying, and managing scalable, secure, and efficient Azure cloud infrastructure solutions.  This is an excellent MSP who due to growth and expansion would love to find an experienced engineer to come on board to work in a client facing environment. You will collaborate with various teams across the business to ensure cloud solutions are optimised for performance, cost-efficiency, and security while adhering to the highest standards of cloud architecture. A passion for cloud technologies and a focus on continuous improvement are essential.

Role Responsibilities: Cloud Architecture / Infrastructure management / Continuous improvement and development / automation / security

  • Design, deploy, and manage cloud infrastructure that is scalable, secure, and aligned with the Azure Well-Architected Framework.
  • Experience with automation, strong scripting for automation, and CI/CD tools (e.g., Terraform, PowerShell, Python, Azure DevOps).
  • Integrate IaaS and PaaS services to meet full customer requirements and deliver robust cloud solutions.
  • Oversee and manage complex Azure cloud deployments, ensuring optimal performance, availability, and cost-efficiency. Extensive knowledge of Azure services (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS).
  • Continuously monitor and optimize cloud resource utilisation.
  • Implement a continuous improvement approach in cloud system development, working with internal teams to ensure changes are delivered with minimal risk to downtime.
  • Actively seek and implement opportunities to enhance system performance and stability.
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts and tools to streamline cloud operations and manage resources efficiently.
  • Identify and recommend new automation opportunities to improve cost management, service performance, and security response.
  • Design and deploy Azure cloud systems with a security-first mindset, adhering to the highest security standards.
  • Implement and enforce robust security policies and best practices for all cloud environments.
  • Collaborate closely with security teams to develop and enhance internal SIEM and SOAR solutions or experience implementing security protocols, SIEM, and SOAR solutions.
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools (Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, etc.).

As part of the role you will be involved with monitoring cloud infrastructure performance, identify issues, and troubleshoot to ensure continuous uptime and resource optimisation. You must be proactive with strong communication skills to address potential performance bottlenecks and ensure cost-effective resource management. You will collaborate with development, operations, and IT teams to support and integrate cloud solutions and provide tech support for all cloud issues.

  • Working to continuously improve the Azure tech stack and improve cloud services, lead the deployment of complex technical solutions with a focus on precision and accuracy.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with customers, ensuring clear communication, and understanding of their needs.
  • Microsoft Azure certifications (e.g., Azure Administrator Associate, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Azure Security Engineer) are preferred.
  • Candidates must possess or be eligible to obtain SC clearance, with a view to obtaining UK Developed Vetting (DV) clearance as required.
