Company Overview:
Our client is a well-established manufacturing company specialising in components for heavy trucks and Off Highway machines, including major brands such as Scania, Volvo, DAF, Leyland, Daimler, MAN. and JCB Following recent contract wins worth £1.3M, they are expanding their team and upgrading their facility with DNG Mori and Doosan machines. Despite a workforce reduction last year, the company remains highly profitable with a strong outlook for growth, now actively doubling its technical team to meet production demands.
The business operates 24/7, with production staff working 4 days on, 4 days off, while management and senior engineers, including this position work a standard schedule
Role Overview:
This is a crucial role within the company, working closely with the current Engineering Manager, who is gradually reducing their hours toward retirement. The selected candidate will eventually step into this senior role, overseeing the CNC milling function and playing a pivotal role in the company's long-term success.
The company has won significant new contracts and needs to increase output from 2 to 4 parts per week, requiring an experienced CNC Miller with strong programming abilities to help optimise production processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Programming Fanuc-controlled CNC mills using longhand programming.
- Setting up new parts from scratch, including fixture set-up and component prove-out.
- Providing technical support to the factory and working closely with the quality team.
- Assisting in defining machining methods for new components.
- Estimating part cycle times to improve efficiency.
- Understanding process capability and ensuring high-quality output.
- Preparing Operator Quality Plans for serial production.
- Representing the company in discussions with customers and their clients.
Requirements:
- Apprentice-trained CNC Miller (preferred) with hands-on experience in programming, setting, and operating CNC milling machines.
- Proven experience in Fanuc programming.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a technical team.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a keen eye for precision engineering.
- Experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment, ideally with heavy truck component production.
- A candidate looking for career progression into an Engineering Manager role would be highly advantageous.
Working Hours:
- Monday - Thursday: 08:00 - 16:45 (30-minute unpaid break)
- Friday: 08:00 - 13:00
- Overtime available
