A dynamic construction consultancy is seeking a motivated Principal Designer to join their team in the Midlands.

This role is ideal for a qualified architect or design professional with experience and knowledge of the new building safety act, alongside an interest in CDM and Health & Safety, offering the opportunity to gain specialist training and expertise in these areas.

The Principal Designer Role

As a Principal Designer, you will ensure compliance with CDM 2015 regulations, integrating health and safety into the design and construction process. Working hybrid or remotely with occasional travel to sites across the Midlands, you'll collaborate with clients, contractors, and design teams to ensure safe and efficient project delivery.

Principal Designer Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver Principal Designer duties in line with CDM 2015 regulations.
  • Provide expert advice on design risk management and health and safety practices.
  • Provide expert advice on the new building safety act to a range of clients.
  • Collaborate with architects, contractors, surveyors and design teams to ensure compliance and best practices.
  • Prepare and review pre-construction information and construction phase plans.

The Principal Designer

  • A background in architecture or a design-related field, with a strong interest in CDM and Health & Safety.
  • NEBOSH Construction Certificate (or willingness to work towards it).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proactive and collaborative, with a strong commitment to learning and development.
  • Memberships such as RIBA, CABE etc are preferred.
