About the Role:

Our client is looking for an experienced Lead Electrical Operations Engineer to oversee the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of multi-utility distribution networks, with a strong focus on low-voltage (LV) electrical distribution.

In this hands-on leadership role, you will manage a team of operations engineers, ensure regulatory compliance with IGEM, ENA, NRSWA, and HSE standards, and optimise network performance while maintaining the highest safety and operational standards. You will also be responsible for asset management, risk assessments, and network audits to ensure infrastructure reliability.

This role is ideal for a technically skilled electrical engineer with leadership experience who is looking for a dynamic, field-based position with opportunities for career progression and professional development.

Job Responsibilities

  • Oversee multi-utility distribution networks, focusing on low-voltage (LV) electrical distribution, with experience in gas and water networks being a plus.
  • Be able to attend sites and assess the status, specification, quality and fitness for purpose of the company’s existing low voltage assets / networks and assets / sites under construction, including water and gas assets
  • Lead and manage a team of Operations Engineers, ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to industry standards.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance with IGEM, ENA, NRSWA, HSE, and other industry standards, conducting regular safety audits and inspections.
  • Plan and oversee maintenance activities, including asset condition assessments, network performance monitoring, and technical troubleshooting.
  • Manage supplier and contractor relationships, ensuring quality, cost control, and adherence to safety regulations.
  • Prepare and submit operational reports, identifying opportunities for process improvement and efficiency.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to engineers, contractors, and stakeholders.
  • Participate in a 24/7 on-call rota, providing operational support in case of emergencies.

Personal Specifications

  • Proven experience in LV electrical distribution (multi-utility experience preferred).
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with experience overseeing operational teams.
  • Low Voltage Authorised Person certification (SAP level desirable).
  • SCO authorised up to 7barg would be desirable.
  • Knowledge of gas and water distribution networks is advantageous.
  • Expertise in safety, compliance, and regulatory standards (IGEM, ENA, NRSWA, HSE).
  • Health & Safety qualifications (IOSH or NEBOSH preferred).
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, balancing fieldwork and strategic planning.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience with asset management systems, technical reporting, and process optimization.
  • Full UK driving license and willingness to travel within assigned territories.
