Cable AssemblerJob Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Cable Assembler to join our client in the Stoke/Cheshire area. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge and hands-on experience in cable assembly, wiring harness/loom fabrication, box/panel assembly, over-moulding, and interpreting technical drawings. This role requires a high level of precision and attention to detail to ensure the production of high-quality components that meet our strict standards.

Cable AssemblerKey Responsibilities:

  • Cable Assembly:Perform complex cable assembly tasks, including cutting, stripping, crimping, soldering, and terminating wires and cables according to specifications.
  • Wiring Harness/Loom Fabrication:Build and assemble wiring harnesses/looms, ensuring accuracy and compliance with engineering drawings and customer specifications.
  • Box/Panel Assembly:Assemble electrical boxes and panels, incorporating cables, connectors, switches, and other components as per design requirements.
  • Over-Moulding:Operate over-moulding equipment to encapsulate cables and connectors, ensuring durable and reliable finished products.
  • Technical Drawing Interpretation:Read and interpret electrical schematics, technical drawings, and assembly instructions to ensure accurate and efficient production.
  • Quality Control:Inspect and test assembled products to ensure they meet quality standards and customer requirements.
  • Troubleshooting:Identify and resolve issues during the assembly process, including diagnosing and correcting wiring and connection problems.
  • Compliance and Safety:Adhere to all company safety protocols and industry standards, ensuring a safe and compliant work environment.
  • Continuous Improvement:Collaborate with the production team to suggest and implement process improvements that enhance efficiency, quality, and safety.
  • Documentation:Maintain accurate records of work performed, including assembly logs, test results, and quality checks.

Cable AssemblerQualifications:

  • Experience:Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in cable assembly, wiring harness/loom fabrication, box/panel assembly, and over-moulding.
  • Technical Knowledge:Strong understanding of electrical principles, materials, and tools used in cable and harness assembly.
  • Skills:Proficient in soldering, crimping, wire stripping, and terminating. Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and precision measurement instruments.
  • Drawings and Schematics:Demonstrated ability to read and interpret complex technical drawings, schematics, and assembly instructions.
  • Attention to Detail:Meticulous attention to detail with a focus on producing high-quality, accurate assemblies.
  • Problem-Solving:Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to identify and resolve issues during the assembly process.
  • Physical Requirements:Ability to perform tasks that require manual dexterity, such as handling small components and operating machinery.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certifications:IPC/WHMA-A-620 certification or equivalent in cable and harness assembly (preferred but not required).
  • Experience in Aerospace/Automotive/Defence:Prior experience working in industries with high reliability standards is a plus.

Work Environment:

  • This role involves working in a production environment that may require standing and sitting for extended periods.
  • Must be able to work with a variety of tools and machinery in a safety-conscious manner.
