Mineral Planner (MRTPI Chartered Preferred)

Are you an experienced Mineral Planner looking for an exciting opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects? A leading consultancy in the mineral and waste planning sector is seeking a skilled professional to join their expert team. Urban planning experience is not required-this role is specifically for those with a background in mineral planning.



About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Preparing Mineral Planning Applications for various mineral extraction and inert waste projects, ensuring compliance with National Minerals Planning Policy

  • Managing ROMPS (Review of Old Mining Permissions) applications and drafting schemes of conditions

  • Negotiating Section 106 and Section 278 agreements with local authorities and stakeholders

  • Handling Planning Appeals, including the preparation of expert evidence for public inquiries

  • Monitoring Local Plans and preparing development proposals for allocation in Local Plan Reviews

  • Conducting Planning Audits and pre-development appraisals for due diligence in land sales and purchases

  • Advising on the restoration of quarry sites, exploring alternative land uses that add value and generate income



What the company is looking For

  • A chartered MRTPI professional (or working towards this qualification)

  • Proven experience in mineral planning (applications, ROMPS, appeals, restoration, planning agreements)

  • Strong negotiation skills, particularly in securing planning agreements with local councils

  • Ability to assess and promote mineral development proposals within the UK planning system

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for preparing reports, applications, and inquiries
